10 Perfête Wedding Trends for the 2019 Wedding Season

Kunbi O / Tuesday June 18, 2019

Wedding season is in full swing! Now that we’re halfway through 2019, we have a lot to say about it. For one, 2019 is the year of the statement wedding. Brides are migrating in droves away from the cookie-cutter and creating impeccably designed events in unusual spaces. Furthermore, you don’t have to choose between full, structured florals and long, leafy garlands- you can have both! Couples are upping the wow factor regardless of event size and we are so thrilled to see all the fun results. Finally, white wedding dresses have a serious contender this year, with an explosion of searches on Pinterest for nuptial gowns in various shades. 2019 is the year of INDIVIDUALITY and we cant wait to see more. These are the 10 striking wedding trends that are shaking up the wed-sphere this year.

1. All White Wedding Decor

No color is more intrinsically connected to all things wedding than white. In fact, it’s been a staple on wedding trends list for years. The first thing you think of when you picture a wedding is probably a bride, in white dress, walking down the aisle. However, this color has absolutely exploded on the wedding decor scene this year extending well beyond bridal attire and into flowers, place settings, cakes, stationary, you name it! It has a beautiful, calm and relaxing vibe while still feeling so chic and elegant. When paired with some vibrant and lush greenery, this look is an absolute home run. We expect this trend to stick around for quite awhile.

2. Balloons

No longer reserved for embarrassing your friends on their birthday or the go-to accessory for clowns, balloons have made their way into the realm of bridal decor. When done correctly, they make a huge visual impact and are usually the most photo-opped spot of the night. They look absolutely amazing when made into an entry way arch, as the focal point of a dessert table or a picture perfect prop to add to your bride and groom shots, with guaranteed insta likes 😉

3. Pampass Grass Details

Perhaps one of the more unique wedding trends to hit the scene this year is the use of pampass grass. Never heard of it? We hadn’t either. But we saw it starting to pop up in the home decor stylings of our favorite bloggers over the last few years and it evolved naturally into the wedding decor space. If you’re going for boho vibes, (dare we say it?!) pampass grass is the new greenery. The color palette it evokes is just absolutely stunning, almost like a real life instagram filter. Love a bridal bouquet made of this beautiful  South American plant to add something seriously unique to your wedding look.

4. Vellum Invites

Move over acrylic, there’s a hot new invite look in town. Vellum invites are everywhere right now, and for good reason. The soft transparency of this material adds such a romantic vibe, it instantly sets the tone for your big day. It’s also super versatile. Want to foil print on it? done. Add some color? done. Just one piece of vellum in your stationary for a pop? Love it all! Perhaps our favorite use is a chic vellum overlay on top of a photo of the bride and groom, and a dreamy film to the whole look.

5. Neon Signs

There’s nothing seedy about this ultra-chic and modern wedding decor touch, and it’s not reserved for the wedding bar either! Personalized neon sign searches on Pinterest are up 281%, and brides are using these signs to spell out messages of love, names and even point guests to certain areas of the reception!

6. Serpentine Tables

One way to make a major visual impact at your reception that has nothing to do with candles or flowers is a statement table. Yes, you heard that right! And there’s no table arrangement that makes a grander statement than a serpentine table. This is created by merging several curved tables together and creates such a fun, whimsical feel to the room. Even better, it’s an amazing way to set a ton of guests at once. Since serpentine tables need to be pretty long to create the desired look, we recommend using them only if you have ample space or or having an outdoor reception.

7. Celestial Decor

With star-spangled wedding gowns, bejeweled hairpins from styling gurus like Kristin Ess & Jennifer Behr and Moravian star decor popping up everywhere, it’s no secret that celestial decor is a growing wedding trend this year. Whether paired with clean, minimalist whites and greens or inspiring a night palette of deep navy and gold, the popularity of this starry trend is astronomical in 2019 (pun intended).

8. Colorful Wedding Gowns

By far one of the biggest inspirations for the 2019 wedding season, brides are searching and pinning colorful wedding dresses over 1154% than the year before! 2018 revealed some truly stunning celeb wedding styles, including Mandy Moore’s unforgettable pink gown with a sweet vintage feel, and an awe-inspiring look at Nick Jonas’ and Priyanka Chopra’s multi-wedding fusion celebration in India late last year. Brides are more confident in stepping out of the box- and the traditional wedding white- to make a statement this year.

9. Pearl Details

From hair clips to headbands – pearl details have been spotted everywhere lately. On the runway, on your insta feed and, yes,  at so many real weddings over the last few months. Today’s brides are looking to switch up the traditional crown/tiara look with something a little cooler, and pearl details are just the way to do it. It’s very European, reminiscent of old victorian flair but with a modern twist. And it’s not limited to just headbands. We’re loving a pearl detail 0n shoes, veils and even as the jewelry of choice to complete your bridal look. Hot tip: this is a great way to add in “something old” as most of our mothers or grandmothers have some pearls to borrow 🙂

10. Couture Looks are Back with the Drama

Whether its victorian high necks, or 3d necklines, the drama is back in wedding gowns. Minimal looks, while still totally having a place in bridal fashion, are no longer the front runner. We love a fierce walk down the aisle, and there’s no better way to add some strut to your step than with a couture, one-of-a-kind look. Take no prisoners ladies, this is your moment! Intricate beading, mile high slits, veils that go on for days – we welcome the return of dramatic bridal looks with open arms.
