Glamorous Burgundy Wedding at The Oxford Exchange

Perfete / Thursday December 20, 2018

Today’s real wedding feature is perfect for so many reasons. It’s classically elegant, beautifully shot and decorated and provides some serious winter wedding inspo (hello red details!) Paige and Andrew are true high school sweethearts, and have been together since she was 16 and Andrew was 17! So romantic. “I chose late fall because it is the perfect backdrop for a bold, romantic, moody wedding,” said Paige. “Burgundy and dark red were the starting point of my color scheme. I also wanted to incorporate a dusty blue accent color because I thought it played so nicely off of the burgundy and dark red! As a painter, having a multi-dimensional color palette was so important to me. I wanted everything to be as unique as possible, but still timeless.”

“Our first look was so special, and a moment we have replayed together so many times. It was surreal, and we were beyond overwhelmed by our emotions. It was the purest moment of love and joy, and we both cried for a good ten minutes after seeing each other!”

The Ceremony

“We chose to have a Catholic Mass ceremony at the Academy of the Holy Names chapel because it holds so much significance for us! Andrew attended elementary and middle school there; I attended high school there. All of our siblings are also graduates of the school. And, I currently teach in the high school! It was an easy choice for us.”

The Reception

“We decided on Oxford Exchange for our reception immediately- it was perfect for what I wanted (unique, vintage/boho with a touch of elegance) and for what Andrew wanted (exquisite food!). Andrew is SUCH a foodie, and when we found out the chef would work with us to create a custom menu, we were sold. OE’s phenomenal chef sat with us and discussed our heritages and favorite meals we have had together and came up with the most delicious, personalized meal we could have imagined. The food was the only thing Andrew had an opinion on, and he hit it out of the park!”

Paige’s advice for new brides?

“Don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want, no matter how many times you have to ask. There were many moments where I would hold back, or hesitate to change or clarify something with a vendor, because I didn’t want to be a nuisance or seen as a “bridezilla.” At the end of the day- you get one wedding, and it should be what you envision. I made a major change on my flowers only a month out from the wedding- but was VERY close to just keeping my mouth shut and going along with what we had decided previously. I am SO glad I didn’t! My flowers ended up being my favorite part of our look, and I almost missed out on that because I wanted to be seen by our vendors as an “easy” bride.”

“At the same time, trust your vendors. They have gone through this process so many times, and their perspective is invaluable. Andrew and I disagreed with our photographer at first about having a first look, but she felt strongly that we should do one based on what we had shared with her about our vision. She convinced us, and we were hesitant- but it ended up being the highlight of our day and a moment we will never forget.”
