NYBFW: Reem Acra “The Celebration Collection”

Perfete / Wednesday October 17, 2018

High Fashion. Floral appliques as far as the eye can see. MAJOR veil and headpiece drama. We can only be describing one collection: The Spring 2019 Bridal Collection by Reem Acra. The designer brought the drama with her signature flourish of detail and a truly grand collection of dresses, almost each one paired with a veil more regal and breathtaking than the next. There were full, silk ballgowns and Victorian, long sleeve sheaths. Sheer, peekaboo fabrics and cloud-like tulle. The dresses are truly regal looking, making for an extremely memorable and glamorous collection. Photos by SYPhotography:

“The idea of creating the world’s most over the top- glamourous bridal dinner party was an idea I have wanted to do for years, ” said Acra. “I loved the idea of combining my ready-to-wear with bridal for the Celebration collection- injecting color and fun into the show. Partnering with Preston to create the set was a true honor and joy, as a Preston Bailey event is an event like no other. I can think of no better complement to my gowns than the glamourous fantasy world that he has created in the New York Public Library.”

The set was the culmination of hundreds of hours of planning and construction. Imported lace swathed hand wrought sculptures, roses and hydrangeas were flown in in from Latin America and a 32 foot long dramatic tableau completed the set- created to showcase the dramatic beauty of Acra’s gowns. Truly dreamy!
