Classic and Sentimental Wedding at the New Southern Hotel

Kunbi O / Tuesday October 16, 2018

And now a break from our regularly scheduled NYBFW coverage! Switching gears to share this really lovely and sentimental southern wedding. The bride envisioned a traditional, elegant wedding. She wanted a more formal wedding in the church she grew up in her whole life.  Traditional music, vows, and flowers were crucial. We’re absolutely love a classic wedding, so this is right up our alley.

Ready your tissues, because this next part is really special: “My father passed away two and half years before our wedding,” said the bride. I wanted to incorporate a few special pieces into the day in memory of how special he was to me.  I pinned a gold locket to my bouquet.  The locket was hand engraved with my new married monogram.  My husband also designed and had my engagement ring made by the very talented Greg McCloud.  As a wedding gift, Greg made a pendant that I attached to my Dad’s bible with a boutonniere.  The pendant was etched from an old picture of my dad and me.  Our florist tied all the pieces together, and it became one of my favorite details from the day.” That is absolutely one of the most heart warming things we’ve heard <3

The bride’s favorite moment of the day? “I would have to say I had a few favorite moments, but I guess the most memorable would be the first look. I was so excited to finally see Trey knowing that this was the day we would finally be married.  Looking back at the pictures, I believe everyone can see the joy in our faces.”

We asked, what is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be? “My husband always said that at the end of the day we would be married no matter what. It was so true.  It’s easier said than done, but I would just say to not worry or stress about the little things. With that being said, I think it is easier to have a stress free engagement and wedding day with a wedding planner. It is well worth the money!”
