Beautiful Florida Wedding with Traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony

Brianna Kozlarek / Wednesday September 6, 2017

Happy #WeddingWednesday! We’ve got a beautiful Florida wedding to share today captured by The Ganeys.  Teresa & Lee’s wedding started off with a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony. Teresa and her bridesmaids put on their ao dais.  A half hour later, the groomsmen arrived on site carrying trays of gifts for the bride’s family. The bridesmaids met the groomsmen outside, as they passed the trays between them. Everyone entered the home and the tea ceremony began. Family members were introduced. They lit incense to honor their family that has passed.Next, they served tea to their parents. From there, Lee and Teresa received jewelry from the family members. They also exchanged their wedding bands at this time. Finally, many of the family members approached them, giving them hugs and red envelopes for their future.

American Ceremony

The rain had started the sprinkle down at this point, and Teresa was sporting her gorgeous Hunter rain boots! She kept a smile on her face as she and her bridesmaids headed to the Baughman Center on Lake Alice. The ceremony was overflowing with guests. A pianist and violinist provided the music for the event. When Teresa walked through the doors on her father’s arm, everyone in the audience let out an audible gasp. She looked stunning in her strapless, lace gown, her hair in loose curls. Lee and Teresa made their way up the spiral walkway to the stage and exchanged their vows in front of their closest family and friends. The sun began shining through the windows as they had their first kiss as husband and wife.

The Reception

The reception was hosted at the Gainesville Women’s Club. Every table was set to perfection. In the center of each table there was a beautiful centerpiece and bottle of wine, indicating the table number. Every setting had chopsticks and a candle that the bride and groom had made. Dinner consisted of a seven course meal (seven!!!), each course more delicious than the last. When it came time to cut the cake, Lee and Teresa poured champagne over a tower of glasses and it looked absolutely incredible.

The whole evening was a success. The toasts were touching, family from far and near were recognized, and karaoke was sung. Lee and Teresa made their way to every table, welcoming each guest. It was a beautiful event filled with cultural traditions throughout the day.
