Honeymoon Destination : Sandals South Coast, Jamaica

Next up in our Honeymoon Destination series is the stunning Sandals South Coast property in Jamaica. Editor Brianna recently vacationed there to celebrate her one year anniversary and has the full run down on this stunning resort:

When Brandon and I were researching resorts and destinations for our anniversary trip, there were two things we knew we wanted: a beautiful Caribbean beach and world class service. We had such an amazing experience at Sandals Grande St. Lucian for our honeymoon that we knew picking any of the Sandals resorts would be a guaranteed week of luxury. After perusing their website we decided on the newly renovated Sandals South Coast. It’s located on a 500 acre nature preserve, has an all new over the water bar, a sprawling property with 9 restaurants and unlimited water sports. This meant peace and quiet when we wanted it and lively adventure when we wanted it. In our minds, the perfect mix.

Our trip started off on the perfect note with a private transfer to the resort from Island Routes. Our wonderful driver Richard had white wine and snacks (the keys to my heart) waiting for us in the car (it even had wifi!) and gave us a beautiful tour of Jamaica over the 1.5 hour ride to the resort. It was basically like having a built in excursion. Upon arrival we were greeting by the general manger Adrian who was always seen around the property making sure every detail was attended to. Our room in the Italian village overlooked the stunning Caribbean sea which was ever-changing shades of blue, green and purple. Absolutely breathtaking. It was modern and updated with a gorgeous bathtub (also the key to my heart).

We tried to take advantage of everything the resort had to offer throughout the week. We ate at every restaurant (I easily gained 5 pounds with all the amazing options) and visited every bar (oops). We played pool, shuffleboard and even did karaoke in the Martini bar after hours. During the day we typically chose to lounge in a cabana (THE LIFE) where our wonderful cabana butler Reigna brought us mimosas and snacks throughout the day. We swam, sailed and walked the expansive two mile beach almost every day.

There are some amazing new additions to the resort, including the super cool over the water bar Latitudes, manned by one of the friendliest and most hilarious bartenders named Renaldo. There I’d stock up on a Dirty Banana (fav drink) or a daquiri and watch the stunning sunsets. There is also a brand new Wedding Chapel which is also over the water. I can’t imagine a more romantic setting to say “I do.” We had the opportunity to view several weddings throughout our stay and they all proceeded perfectly. Based on the smiles, we think the brides and grooms were very happy with their experiences.

All in all, Jamaica was truly a magical place to visit. The landscape is lush and tropical, the weather perfect, and it is home to some of the most wonderful and friendly people I’ve had the opportunity to meet. Special thanks to Rochelle for showing us around and sharing all the beauty Sandals South Coast had to offer. We can’t wait to come back 🙂
