Hello to all you college-goers! Whether you are just starting your freshman year, or you are returning for another year of the dorm life, this post is for you. We are letting you in on the secrets to the cutest, most functional, and stylish dorm room. Here are your must haves for move-in, so you’ll have the go-to room this year! College dorm life can be hectic and nerve-wracking, but I promise with these tips you are sure to feel more at home in your room. Get to packing pretties, school starts soon!

1. Washi Tape – So here’s the secret: washi tape is perfect for putting up adorable pictures, for labeling notebooks, decorating your laptop, fridge or desk. I am telling you, this is the best thing ever. It will not leave any marks and comes in so many styles and colors. This is your new best friend!

2. Twin XL Bedding – Sheets and a cozy place to rest your head after a long night at the library are so important. A mattress pad is super helpful to make you feel right at home in your new bed. When choosing bedding, you and your roomie can collaborate on colors and styles if you want your room to flow together. And here’s an insiders tip: clean lines and soothing colors (and keeping your bed made) make your bed that much nicer to jump into after a long day!

3. Decorative Pillows– Decorative pillows are awesome for sprucing up your bed, futon, or even your desk chair! This is a great way to add a home-y and personal touch!

4. Desk Organizer – A desk organizer will save your life when you need to get busy on a late night cram and paper-writing sessions (not recommended), quick note taking or even a doodle or two! Keep everything from highlighters to paperclips and sticky notes! Oh and don’t you forget a calendar or a planner to keep a running tab on all your assignments!

5. Chair – This can be a great addition for your tiny space. It is easy to fold up, or to get out when you have others over to hangout and it’s really great because it doesn’t take up much space!

6. Poster – It is essential that you find one or more, or many many more, posters to tack up on your wall! Whatever movies, or bands or places you are into, get a poster for it and hang it proudly to add your flair and keep you feeling right at home.

7. Extension Cords  – Outlets can be hard to come by in a dorm room, especially when you know you are bringing way too many extra things that require a plug in.  Extension cords are definitely a must-have.

8. Single Serving Coffee Maker – I don’t know about you, but the longer a lot of students are in college, the more they depend on coffee. I believe that is a direct correlation. A signal brew is pretty efficient, if you only have a few people living together and it will save you time money and coffee beans!

9. Mini Fridge – A mini fridge is the perfect place for those late night snacks you know you’ll be craving or the leftovers from the dining hall. Make sure to stock up on water too! You’ll be walking a lot to class and to meet up with friends and will need to keep hydrated.

10. Storage – Under the bed storage and closet storage are your best bet. Keep your out of season clothes, shoes and maybe even some Christmas decorations like I do!

11. Mirror – A mirror over your closet door will be so helpful when you go to see if your outfit is rocking! And it might give you a space to get ready so you are not too crowded with your roomie.
