Kristy's Proposal Story 2

On Saturday April 18th of this year my parents, sister, and now fiance decided to go visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields. It is only open a few months annually so we were excited to go and experience the nearly 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers. We’re pretty in tune with each other’s emotions and he seemed a little off I could tell because he was stress eating a bag of kettlecorn so I asked if he was okay and he said yea I’m just hungry.

So I brushed it off and maybe 30 minutes later we were walking through the fields again and he was acting weird, I’m used to him being so calm and cool all the time so I wasn’t sure what was causing this. He was walking fast ahead of me to get to the center walkway of the flower fields and I said “Hey slow down, what’s the rush” and slid my finger into his front small coin pocket of his pants to slow him down. In that moment I instantly regretted what I did I felt the ring in his pocket.

He didn’t notice but I can’t keep that kind of secret so I told him and was really sad because I just ruined my own surprise. He was really bummed too and told me it’s okay there will be plenty more opportunities, you’ll just have to wait (which is not something I like to do). We tried to brush it off and had my sister take a few more pictures of us.

He asked my sister and mom to step back a maybe 15 feet so we could get a picture of the whole flower fields in the background. I could feel his hand trembling on my back and the next thing I knew he gets down on one knee and says “This wasn’t what I originally planned but sometimes the best things in life are things you can’t plan but things you can’t stop from happening” but I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you and meeting you is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I can’t imagine a single day without you” in excitement I interrupted and said YESS!

… oh wait ask me first and we both laughed and he asked if I would marry him . I was so excited and happy because I thought I had just ruined my surprise earlier and would have to wait longer. The proposal was a surprise to my parents and sister because he had told them he was going to wait until his birthday (which was a month away at the time). He’s the most thoughtful and amazing man and I can’t wait to have him as my husband!

After 4 years of being together, we’re really excited to get married on June 18, 2016!!
