Traditional Igbo Wedding by Alakija Studios

We are so thrilled to bring you Ndali and Kayode’s traditional Igbo wedding. You may remember this gorgeous duo from their Hotel Bon Voyage Engagement Shoot by Alakija Studios. How adorable were they?! We’ll try not to harp on and on about how stunning these two are (the pictures say it all) but I will say this- Ndali has to be one of the most beautiful brides we have ever featured on the blog. She looks absolutely radiant in every traditional outfit and wait till you see her wedding dress! Anyway, the Orepitans are gracing us with their gorgeousness this afternoon and we are swooning from ear to ear! All captured perfectly by Demi O for Alakija Studios.

The Ceremony
In a traditional Igbo wedding ceremony, the bride’s father gives the bride a wooden cup filled with traditional palm wine, while the groom finds a spot among the guests. The bride then searches for her husband in the crowd while different guests try to distract her by claiming to be the groom. Once she finds her groom, she offers him the cup of palm wine as a symbol of her love and loyalty. The couple then return to the bride’s parents who then bless the marriage and proclaim them husband and wife.
