Inspiration: My inspiration was more of the overall feel I wanted for the wedding – outdoor romance with a mix of vintage and modern elegance.
Special Projects: I did quite a few DIY projects: I designed our save the date; glued gold glitter onto votive candles for our reception tables; made 3 tiered appetizer trays from mixed vintage china plates and candlesticks – we used these at cocktail hour; my dad carved “MR & MRS” letters to use at our sweetheart table; I painted and put together our wooden table numbers; designed and printed signs around wedding; created a photo slideshow to play during the reception; a few of my bridesmaids and I arranged and put together all of the centerpieces and bridesmaids bouquets; and other small projects.
One of my favorite memories was when our photographers were taking pictures of Eric and I after the ceremony… We were sitting on a bench, looking into each other’s eyes while the sun was setting, and he leaned in and whispered into my ear “I love you and I am so happy you’re my wife.” It was a lovely memory because it was the first moment we had time to ourselves and to just relax for a minute and let it all sink in.
My advice for brides-to-be is to really try to enjoy the planning process and not feel too overwhelmed and stressed with it all; the wedding will be perfect, because at the end of the day you will be married to the love of your life, and that’s all that truly matters.
